Hi, I'm Rebekah.

I'm a digital marketer by profession, a mom of three wildlings, and the woman behind NapanochNY.com.

If you've landed here looking for local history, community resources, or just searched ‘Napanoch, NY” and the site popped up, welcome. This fledgling  website has been sitting as a side project for years, waiting for life to slow down enough to give it the attention it deserved.

It turns out life had other plans.

Three years after moving to Napanoch our family was thrown into the world of childhood cancer when our then three-year old son, Kalel, was diagnosed with leukemia in October of 2023. In the middle of his treatment, we welcomed our third child, Aila. Between hospital trips, chemotherapy schedules, raising three young kids, and trying not to lose my job, building a community website took a back seat.

Thankfully, we're now on the other side of treatment, and life is finally beginning to feel a little more normal (knock wood). That means it's time to dust off the idea that kept hanging around in the back of my mind. 

I work in marketing - but not the flashy kind. I specialize in search - SEO, GEO, AI Search, whatever new acronym is in vogue at the moment. In the end, I help business owners and brands get found online.

Recently, I noticed that my paltry landing page was coming up for “Napanoch” searches in Google. I took it as a sign to get started, GoDaddy template be damned. I'm working on new website I hope to launch soon!

Although I work in digital marketing, this isn't meant to be a polished tourism website or an encyclopedia. I’m not sure where I’m going, time is limited, and the site will reflect that. At least initially. 

I’m a bit of an introvert and despite living in Napanoch for several years, I still feel like I'm discovering the area right alongside many visitors and newer residents. I'm not an expert but love learning. Perhaps that’s why I’m so committed to making this happen.

It’s also what makes this project fun. It’s different from what I normally do. It excites the whole family and my kids want to be involved too.

So everything here is written from the perspective of someone who's discovering for the first time: digging through old newspaper archives, talking with longtime residents, visiting local landmarks, and learning about the people who built this corner of the Hudson Valley. Sometimes I'll get things wrong, and when I do, I hope someone lets me know. History is a work in progress.

My goal is to create a place that celebrates Napanoch's past, highlights what's happening today, and becomes a useful resource for both locals and visitors. Along the way, I hope to preserve stories that might otherwise disappear and maybe even inspire others to share their own.
