This site for Napanoch, NY is the result of a search to learn more about the history of our house on route 55. One neighbor said it used to be a gas station, another random passerby said our house was moved here, probably during construction of the reservoir.
As I searched online I discovered so much of the (written)history of this hamlet and the surrounding area seems to be lost, or confined to a relatively few subject experts sharing stories. One incredible resource - by the late William Winters - is a time capsule on tripod dot com that’s riddled with pop ups and phishing scams. I would love to preserve his websites with the proper permissions. For now slow loading version is archived on wayback machine if you search NapanochNY. tripod . Com - I won’t link to the site from here due to pop ups but you can cut and paste and see at your own risk! Wonderful resource if not for the cyber scammers!
This led me to go beyond trying to find only the history of my house, but to create an online resource dedicated to preserving Napanoch’s history. My goal is also to use this site to support local businesses and the community in general. I’m not sure how that will develop so for now this GoDaddy template is a placeholder!
